Links to Useful Resources

The following are links to some websites that I believe offer useful information and encouragement. They include news sites, information about different efforts to share the good news of Jesus in different parts of the world, links to several Christian universities, and sites devoted to improving the work of Christ's church.
  • The Christian Chronicle - An international newspaper for Churches of Christ
  • College Church of Christ, Searcy, Arkansas
  • Eastern European Missions - Delivering Bibles and Bible study materials to men, women and children throughout Eastern Europe. In more than 20 languages to nations of the former Communist Bloc. Sharing God’s Word, educating and inspiring people everywhere.
  • Truth for Today World Mission School - information and archived materials for the Truth for Today publication ministry, located in Searcy, Arkansas.
  • World Bible School - sharing the story of Jesus around the world via printed and internet study courses.

Christian Universities
  • Faulkner University, Montgomery, Alabama: where God’s Word is taught and respected, and where students are encouraged to grow in intellect, character and service.
  • Freed-Hardeman University, Henderson, Tennessee: committed to helping students develop their God-given talents for His glory by empowering them with an education that integrates Christian faith, scholarship, and service.
  • Harding University, Searcy, Arkansas:  developing the whole person through a commitment to Christ and to the Bible as the Word of God, an emphasis on lifelong intellectual growth, and the encouragement of Christian service and world missions through a servant-leadership lifestyle
  • Harding School of Theology, Memphis, Tennessee: graduate-level theological education preparing Christian leaders to develop deeper faith in God and higher standards of ministry and scholarship.
  • Oklahoma Christian University, Edmond, Oklahoma: earn your degree in a Christ-centered community.

Useful Resources for Ministry
  • Between Preachers: Learning about Interim Ministry   - this website devoted to the interim ministry work of veteran preacher Jerrie Barber and his wife, Gail. Jerrie writes about the process and practices of working with churches between preachers. He posts regularly on this blog (www.jerriebarber.com).
    • A site for church elders: You might also want to check out Jerrie's blog, www.newshepherdsorientation.com: for elders, men who want to be elders, and all those who love and want to encourage elders. Jerrie posts on this blog on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month.
  • Biblical Archaeology  - Archaeology is a topic of interest to many students of the Bible. Dr. Dale Manor of Harding University serves as the Field Director of the Tel Beth-Shemesh excavations in Israel and offers reports and commentaries on archaeological work from the biblical world. Find out more at http://www.dalewmanor.net/index.html
  • Life and Leadership - This website (www.lifeandleadership.com) is published by Dr. Carlus Gupton, Professor of Ministry at Harding School of Theology, as an expression of his passion to equip church leaders. The site summarizes and/or categorizes over 1,500 resources on ministry and church leadership.
    • The best place to start with the site is the resource guides, http://www.lifeandleadership.com/ministry-resource-guide-index.
    • Dr. Gupton also has another site featuring the DISC Profile, which is often used in churches for team-building, conflict management and counseling, http://www.discpersonalitysource.com.

A Ministry for Seniors
  • Abundant Living is an outreach of University Advancement at Harding University designed to encourage, inspire, equip, and challenge older Christians to make God's kingdom their first priority as they plan for and move into retirement. Director Teresa Castleman and the Abundant Living staff  "believe older Christians are as essential to the body of Christ as any other age group. We don't want you to finish life with any ungiven love, unshared compassion, unused energy or unrealized value to the kingdom of God. Please step up to the challenge to make an eternal difference every day of your life by daily renewal of your love for God and continual spreading of His love to others. May God bless you to that end."
